Minimum Dry Lift refers to the ability of the fuel pump to

prime in an empty fuel line condtion.

For example a fuel pump with a 12 inch minimum dry lift

specification should be mounted no more than 12 inches

from the BOTTOM of the fuel tank to guarantee proper

priming under all conditions.
